Mutual Fund & Investment Planning FAQs
PaisaGraph is an AMFI-registered mutual fund distributor (ARN 314808) based in Sector 18, Noida, helping investors in India, including NRIs, with SIPs, lump-sum investments, portfolio reviews and goal-based planning. Here are clear answers to the questions investors ask us most.
01
How can I start investing in mutual funds through PaisaGraph?
Getting started begins with understanding your financial goals, investment horizon, risk tolerance and available budget. PaisaGraph helps investors explore mutual fund options, SIP or lump-sum investment routes and the applicable eligibility requirements. You can browse schemes on our mutual fund marketplace.
If you are new to investing, contact us to understand the process, required documentation and available investment options.
02
What is the minimum amount required to start a SIP in India?
The minimum SIP amount varies by mutual fund scheme and the terms set by the respective Asset Management Company (AMC). Some schemes permit SIPs starting at โน100 or โน500, while others may require a higher amount.
Your SIP amount should be based on your financial goals, cash flow and investment horizon, not simply the minimum accepted by a scheme.
03
How do I choose the right mutual fund for my financial goals?
The right mutual fund depends on your investment objective, time horizon, risk tolerance, liquidity needs and existing portfolio. Equity, debt, hybrid, index and other mutual fund categories have different risk and return characteristics.
Before investing, understand the scheme's investment strategy, riskometer, costs and relevant scheme documents. Past performance does not guarantee future returns.
04
Is SIP better than lump-sum mutual fund investment?
SIP and lump-sum investing serve different purposes. A Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) allows you to invest periodically, while lump-sum investing deploys a larger amount at one time.
A SIP can help build an investment habit and spread purchases over time, but it does not guarantee profits or protect against market losses. The appropriate approach depends on your cash flow, goals, risk tolerance and market exposure.
05
Can PaisaGraph review my existing mutual fund portfolio?
Yes. Contact PaisaGraph to enquire about a review of your existing mutual fund portfolio. A useful review considers asset allocation, diversification, overlap between schemes, investment costs, risk exposure, tax implications and alignment with your financial goals.
You do not necessarily need to move your investments simply because you seek a second opinion. The scope, process and any applicable charges should be confirmed before proceeding.
06
How can I invest for retirement, my child's education or other long-term goals?
Goal-based investing starts by estimating the amount you may need, the time remaining to achieve the goal and the level of risk you can reasonably take. A suitable investment approach should also consider inflation, existing savings, liquidity requirements and periodic reviews.
PaisaGraph can help you explore relevant mutual fund investment options and the planning tools available through its platform, including our calculators and tools.
07
How much risk is involved in mutual fund investments?
Mutual funds are subject to market risks, and their values can rise or fall. Equity funds generally carry market-related volatility, while debt funds may be exposed to interest-rate, credit and liquidity risks. Hybrid and other strategies have their own risk characteristics.
Short-term volatility risk can generally be mitigated through long-term, disciplined investing.
PaisaGraph helps you follow a disciplined investment approach after reviewing your investment objective, portfolio and scheme documents. Please also read our Risk Disclosure.
08
What are the charges for investing through PaisaGraph?
The applicable charges depend on the service and investment route selected. Mutual fund expenses, including the Total Expense Ratio (TER), are reflected in the scheme's structure. Any separately applicable service fee or other charge should be explained before you proceed.
09
Can I invest in mutual funds without switching from my existing distributor?
You can enquire about your available options without committing to switch. PaisaGraph reviews your existing portfolio and guides you on restructuring existing holdings and making fresh investments, including possible tax consequences, exit loads and transaction requirements.
10
Can NRIs invest in Indian mutual funds through PaisaGraph?
Yes, NRIs can invest in mutual funds in India. If you are an NRI or an overseas Indian looking to invest in Indian mutual funds, contact PaisaGraph. We can guide you on the mutual fund house's acceptance policy, KYC requirements, banking arrangements, tax treatment, repatriation requirements and the FEMA and tax rules applicable to your specific case.
11
What documents are required to invest in mutual funds in India?
Requirements may include PAN, KYC verification, identity and address documentation, bank-account details and other information required by the relevant intermediary or AMC as per SEBI and RBI norms. Additional documentation may apply to NRIs, non-individual investors or particular transactions.
12
Can I redeem my mutual fund investments whenever I need money?
Yes, you can generally redeem your mutual fund investments at any time. Open-ended mutual funds generally permit redemption on business days, subject to applicable cut-off times and settlement timelines.
We will also guide you on the applicable tax treatment before you redeem.
13
How are mutual fund investments taxed in India, and where can I find a tax guide?
The tax treatment of mutual fund investments in India depends on the type of scheme, the period for which units are held, the nature of income and the tax provisions applicable to the investor. Capital gains on redemption or transfer, income distributions and tax-saving investments may be subject to different rules.
If you are looking for information on mutual fund taxation in India, short-term and long-term capital gains tax, tax on mutual fund redemptions, or tax-saving investments, visit the PaisaGraph Tax Guide page for further information.
Tax rules may change, and the actual tax liability depends on your individual circumstances and the law applicable to the relevant financial year. Please review the applicable provisions or consult a qualified tax professional before making an investment or redemption decision.
